St. Damasus died in 384 A.D. after a distinquished reign as pope. He preserved the papal archives and was devoted to the martyrs. St. Damasus combatted the anti-pope Ursinus and fought against the Arian and Donatist heresies. He defended the Roman primacy. St. Damasus encouraged St. Jerome to produce the Latin Vulgate of the Bible.

St. Peter Damian was the Cardinal Bishop of Ostia. He fought simony and upheld priestly celibacy. St. Damian was a defender of Gregorian reform and a promoter of religious life. He died on February 22, 1072 A.D. He was declared a doctor of the Church in 1828 A.D.

St. Damian and St. Cosmas were brother physicians who were martyred around 300 A.D. According to ancient documents his tomb is at Cyrrhus in Syria along with St. Cosmas. There a Basillica was built in their honor. St. Damian is mentioned in the Roman Canon. He is the Patron of Barbers, the Blind, Druggists, Pharmacists, Physicians, and Surgeons.

St. Denis came from Rome to France in about the middle of the third century. He was the first bishop of Paris. St. Denis was martyred in 258 A.D. along with Eleutherius (Presbyter), and Rusticus (Deacon) on Montmartre. He is the Patron Saint of France, Paris, and Possessed.

In 1531 Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared four times to a native convert, Juan Diego Cuatitlatoatzin. His last name means "taliking to an eagle." Blessed Juan was a member of the Chichimecca people, he was perhaps a leader of his own people. After the appearances he devoted himself to care for the pilgrims who came to see the miraculous image of Mary imprinted on his cloack. Blessed Juan was beatified by Pope John Paul II in Mexico City.

St. Dominic was born in Calaruega, Spain in 1170 A.D. He studied theology at Palencia and was made canon of the Church of Osma. He founded the " Order of Friar Preachers", propagated the praying of the Rosary, and saved the Church from the Albingensian Heresy. St. Dominic died in Bologna, Italy in 1221 A.D. He is the Patron Saint of Astronomers.

Blessed Katherine Drexel died in 1955 and was foundress of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacraments for Indians and Colored People. She was beatified by Pope John Paul II on November 20, 1988. Also, Blessed Katherine is known for establishing some 49 foundations including Xavier University in New Orleans.

St. Rose died at age 83 in 1852 A.D. She founded the first American house of Religious of the Sacred Heart. St. Rose opened the first free school west of the Mississippi. She was known for her courage and desire to serve native Americans. The Patawatomi called her "the woman who prays always."

St. Andrew was canonized on June 19, 1988. He suffered martyrdom in the 19th century. Persecutions of Vietnamese Christians from the 17th century through the 19th century were high, expecially between 1820 and 1840 under the reign of the Emporer Minh-Mang. Under his reign 117 Christians - clergy, religious, and lay suffered martyrdom.

Blessed Marie-Rose died at the age of 38 in 1849 A.D. She was born in St. Antoine, Quebec. Blessed Marie-Rose began the first Canadian parish sodality for young women. She founded the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary, for Christian Education.
