Martyr, deacon, and companion of Pope Sixtus II in death. He was with the pope when seized during the persecutions of Emperor Valerian. Agapitus and five other deacons-Felicissimus, Januarius, Magnus, Stephen, and Vincent- were martyred. Died: 258, Feastday: August 6.
