Early Christian hermit and abbot. Agatho lived in the Egyptian desert. He is mentioned frequently in the Lives of the Fathers of the Desert. Such saints evolved the modern monastic ideals in their own eras, using the Egyptian wilderness as their hermitage. Died: 4th Century, Feastday: October 21.
